The 2025 LSCOBA-Toronto Picnic was held on 17 Aug 2025 at the spacious Thomson Memorial Park (Site 04). The event saw a historic turnout with over 300 participants, uniting Lasallians across decades in a vibrant display of fellowship.
Responding to the valuable feedback from its members, the LSCOBA committee made a strategic change in venue this year. Thomson Memorial Park provided excellent accessibility, ample parking, and the necessary capacity to comfortably host the record-breaking number of attendees, ensuring a welcoming environment for all.
The event was masterfully led by veteran organizer Ambrose Cheung (69). He was supported by the tremendous efforts of the newly elected OBA committee, including Gordon Tam (’77), Vincent Ho (’88), Ken Wong (’90), Michael Kong (’94), Chris Fong (’94), Sunny Leung (’96), Robin Siu (’00), Andrew Sin (’00), Alex Tsoi (’17), and Kelvin Ho (’19). Their collective teamwork and dedication were instrumental in the event’s flawless execution.
The picnic grounds were adorned with a prominent school banner, creating a familiar and proud backdrop for the day. Guests were treated to a generous and delicious spread of food and drinks. The culinary highlights were a significant success, with three whole roast pigs proving to be exceptionally popular; they were consumed entirely within the first 90 minutes of the event. By the end of the day, no food was left, a testament to the excellent planning and the enthusiastic appetites of the attendees. The feast was greatly enhanced by kind donations from several alumni. The association extends its sincere gratitude to Danny Au Yeung (’67) for 20 packs of smoked salmon, Peter Lau (’70) for fresh watermelons, Chris Fong (’94) for providing Starbucks coffee, and Chapter President Kevin Kwok (’88) for supplying essential equipment and utensils.
A particularly heartwarming aspect of the day was the strong show of support from the families of old boys. Wives and girlfriends were instrumental as helpers, and several young alumni also stepped up to assist, highlighting the deeply embedded spirit of service within the Lasallian community.
The picnic served as a magnificent bridge between generations, with old boys from the legendary Class of 1948 all the way to the future alumni of the Class of 2030 in attendance. The sense of shared history was further strengthened by the presence of four beloved retired teachers from La Salle College and La Salle Primary School: Mr. Joseph Yu (’61), Mr. Chan Tong, Ms. Alice Sitt, and Ms. Carlie Yip. Their attendance was deeply appreciated by all.
The event culminated in a powerful and nostalgic moment as the entire assembly, led by Chapter President Kevin Kwok (’88), joined together to sing the school song, a tradition that reaffirmed the unbreakable bonds forged at La Salle.
The LSCOBA – Toronto Chapter considers the 2025 picnic a tremendous success and looks forward to building on this momentum for future events, continuing to strengthen the ties that bind the global Lasallian family.
