Vancouver Chapter 40th Anniversary Celebration

Vancouver Chapter 40th Anniversary Celebration

On June 28, 2018 the LSCOBA Vancouver Chapter celebrated its 40th Anniversary with a dinner banquet at the Fortune Terrace Seafood Restaurant. The idea of forming the LSCOBA Chapter was the brainchild of two pioneers, Paul Ng and Benedict Lam. With the help of an organising committee that included Dominic Lau, Alex Watt, Francis Sim, George Muller, and Arthur Yap-Chung, the LSCOBA Vancouver Chapter was officially formed in the summer 1978 with the signing of the constitution document, prepared by Benedict Lam on June 29th, 1978. Past Presidents who were present at this banquet were introduced to the gathering followed by a short speech by the inaugural President, Benedict Lam. The School Song was sung to the accompaniment of the La Salle full orchestra on the large video screen followed by a sumptuous dinner. The evening was capped off with wonderful Karaoke performances by members of the La Salle Alumni. It was a wonderful celebration enjoyed by everyone.

Golden Jubilee Celebration of William and Vivien Lai

The cake cutting ceremony from the love couple

William Lai (61’) is sure no stranger to the regular readers of this newsletter. As one of the most loyal supporters of this newsletter, William has published multiple articles on this newsletter during the past years. That’s why readers of this newsletter would be happy to learn that William and his beloved wife, Vivien, had celebrated their Golden Jubilee (50th) Wedding Anniversary Celebration in August 24, 2018 in Edmonton. As a very loyal La Salle Old Boy, William had also invited many La Salle Old Boys from Edmonton and beyond in North America to join celebrating this very significant milestone in life. Over 100 people attended the celebration dinner, out of which, 3 tables were from the La Salle family. Prior to dinner, William and Vivien had shared with the guests their past 50 years of life journey… from how they have overcome many different hurdles when first studying in Canada since graduating in 1961 to successfully building their love nest and wonderful family all by themselves. William’s loyalty to La Salle was very evident for he had mentioned La Salle College in multiple occasions during his celebration speech and slideshow. On behalf of the LSCOBA Edmonton and Vancouver Chapters, we would like to congratulate William and Vivien for their Golden Jubilee Celebration and achieving this very significant milestone in life!
